Paper Piecings by Nikki DT Offering with an Action Wobble Challenge

Happy Action Wobble Challenge – Let’s Polka (Dot)

http://challenges.action-wobbles.com/ is the place to find more ideas on how to incorporate the wobbles into your crafting and have some fun with the challenges provided.

This week’s challenge is to make a project with polka dots in mind and, of course, use an Action Wobble!  I used some polka dot paper and also cut strips of a contrasting color to adhere to the card base.  Then I fussy cut the grape character and the peanut butter jar from Paper Piecings by Nikki’s Peanut Butter and Jelly pattern collection located on her online store at http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

I used gel pens to highlight the characters for more dimension and added a bow for good measure.  The gold-embossed sentiment, You Did It, was from Pink By Design and the card could be used for any type of celebration you can imagine.

Here is my project:

When you lift the left tail of the bow, the grape WOBBLES!

Center Step Card Blog Hop

Welcome to the Center Step Card Blog Hop.  Ashley, our blog hostess, set up this event and wanted each craft site to show off a project using the center step card technique.  I must confess that this is my first time doing this type of card crafting so I was both engaged and apprehensive (at the same time).  I googled the technique and found several very informative videos and tutorials that outlined the center step.  It was nice to move out of my comfort zone to try this and I'm pleased with the results.

One of the online sites I found most helpful was http://juliedavison.com/Tutorials/1109_HorizontalCenterStepCard.pdf plus a diagram below.

First, I determined this type of card to have an advantage of being able to stand alone without being propped up on a card easel for display.  Second, I realized the center step technique afforded me the option of making a card with different dimensions than my normal pocket cards.  Third, I learned something new by signing up for the hop and, hopefully, you as OUR guest will experience lots of inspiration at the various blog spots to "give it a go too"!

The blog line up is as follows:
1.  Ashley - http://thebloghopprincess.blogspot.com/  HOSTESS
11. Pam - http://lovebugcreations3.blogspot.com/  HERE

My first project uses a paper piecing pattern from Paper Piecings by Nikki, which is called Peanut Butter and Jelly Cutting File.

The strawberry and peanut butter idea is TOOOOO SWEEEET! http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

I used some very sturdy Kraft paper for the center step and jazzed it up with some strawberry paper I had in my paper stash. I don't own a cutting machine for SVG's so after fussy cutting the strawberry and peanut butter jar I added gel pen highlights, some "strawberry ribbon" (two different types), a sentiment stamped on Kraft paper and gel pen highlighted.

Since Halloween is approaching next month, I decided to create another center step card for that.

For the card base I used some grey-black and white swirled paper I had in my paper stash from a long time ago.  The card sentiment BOO is a stamp I purchased last year from Wal-Mart.  The strips of paper for the side and bottom panels are again from scraps I saved.  The image is a flying witch, a GFS digi, that I colored with pencils and gel pens (her dress and hat are a grey to go with the background paper, but the camera didn't pick up the color as it is in real life).  The two-toned gold and orange ribbon and the gems added a bit of glamor for our little witch.  I also mounted her on my new favorite thing - an Action Wobble.

Here is a photo of the side shot of the center step card.

I also found this very helpful diagram online for a horizontal center step card.

Please leave me a comment/become a fan if you'd like and if you found my posting helpful.............Blog Candy rules are on Ashley's posting!!

BLOG CANDY - $20 gift card to either Michaels or Joanns. To win the candy YOU must comment on all stops.

As I said, perhaps you'll be motivated to try this card technique and step out of your "same old, same old" style, but remember, no matter how you piece your paper, have fun with it..........cyberhugs.........Mama LoveBug!

This is the last stop on the hop - thank you for your participation today!!

DT Paper Piecings by Nikki - Extra Fall Project Tags

Happy Day, Crafties!  I'd like to remind everyone that we are entering the fall season and there are so many choices to pick from at PPbN - it's like being a kid in a candy store with a penny (hey do they even make penny candy any more?)

So with all these choices DT Pam aka Mama LoveBug wants to share a very clever and unique paper collection from Paper Piecings by Nikki - it's called Falling 4 You and can be found at her online store http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

These little characters are too cute with their corresponding fall colors and activities - who wouldn't want to have their yard raked by this charming young man and who wouldn't love to grab a cup of hot cocoa for the darling little lady!!

I fussy cut the characters and added some sparkle to highlight.  I had some lovely leaf paper from Sherry K Designs (digital paper), some lovely fall ribbon, and a sentiment - What a Treat (Wal-Mart stamp) on a SU punched-out circle.  The tag was punched at the top, the ribbon threaded through, and tied in a bow.

Thanks for stopping by.........remember no matter how you piece your paper, have fun with it.......cyberhugs...........Mama LoveBug!

Paper Piecings by Nikki DT Offering - Happy Birthday

Hello, Crafties! Tomorrow our daughter, Andrea, will be celebrating her birthday.  PPbN released a new pattern collection called Date Night and I envisioned an anniversary card in the making, BUT when I fussy cut the images I thought, why not create a birthday card for this offering.  Andrea loves movies! The bears and the accessories were so cute - popcorn box and coke - the perfect pair (although I'm a Pepsi person), but you get the idea.  You can find this pattern and many other goodies at the online store http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

Here is the result of my efforts:

Also here are two bookmarks made with same collection characters.

I ♥ my teacher~ PPbN DT Offering

Good Morning everyone! It's my day to post for Paper Piecings by Nikki Design Team! I wanted to keep with the school theme again this week and so I made another card for teacher! I couldn't resist the apple from the "Fall Characters" set! Nikki has been coming out with some of the most adorable patterns! You simply must go check them out! Also she's having a sale... remember to use the code: happyfall when you check out for 50% off!!! :)

For my card I used some DCWV paper (either grade school or Edumacation) Still can't figure out what papers came from which stack since I've basically got them all torn apart! LOL I can't get enough of these stacks! I cut the "I love my teacher" out of one of the papers. The border strip is also cut from the collection and I added some SU! Brads to make the pattern pop! :) I hope you enjoy this card and it inspires you to make something using one of Nikki's patterns!!!

Action Wobbles Challenge - Sweet Treats

Who doesn't love a sweet treat, especially if it's made with love for someone's birthday?  With that in mind, I made a Happy Birthday card for someone in my crafting life (shhh - her birthday is coming up very soon!! and she also entered the challenge!!).  I decided to enter this in the Action Wobbles challenge this week.  The theme of the challenge is using a treat on a project and, of course, using a delightful and very addicting Action Wobble.

This card was made with a celebration girl -  lovely image (got the stamp from Archivers), a birthday paper from my paper stash from K and Company, two sentiments which I gold-embossed along with the ice cream cake (added a few Stickles too), a Spellbinder's scalloped die, some rose-colored ribbon, and two punches - flower and ticket to add interest.  The girl was also colored with SU markers.  The final touch was the Action Wobble for the ice cream cake.

These are pictures of the pocket card base and insert.

This final photo is showing proof of using an Action Wobble - I'll get the hang of taking a picture of this with more practice!!

Paper Piecings by Nikki DT Offering - Boys With Their Toys

Good Morning, Crafties!  Paper Piecings by Nikki (PPbN) has a new collection for that boy in your life, whether he’s young or old, tall or short, smart or well- you get the idea.  Most males have a thing about toys – it could be the traditional stuff like trucks, match-book cars, etc or it could be the technological toys like computer, I-pods, large, flat screen TV’s or such.  Yes, it’s Boys With Their Toys!

So with that in mind, Mama LoveBug designed a card using two of the patterns in this new collection – and added some twists.  The PPbN online store can be found at http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

I found a patterned paper that had plaids (a carnival stack), like the boys’ shirts, and after fussy cutting the boy bears, I added some gel pens highlights for interest around the characters.  I fashioned a pocket card, cut out a few labels from a Spellbinders die, stamped two sentiments – Born to Ride and Happy Birthday (call when it's time for cake).  Then I dressed up the base and insert adding some boy buttons and blue gems to match the color scheme.  My last touch was an Action Wobble for the base bear – love those!!  I guess those are toys for crafties!

Here is my Boys and Their Toys card for today’s offering.

Hope you enjoy your crafting day and remember, no matter how you piece your paper, have fun with it.........cyberhugs.........Mama LoveBug

Just a Note~ PPbN DT Offering

Good Morning, everyone!!! I wanted to keep in the "Back to School" spirit of things this week. If you missed it Team A on the Paper Piecings by Nikki DT had our monthly hop on Tuesday! The theme was all Back To School and the projects were fabulous! So keeping with that theme I made a card for my son's teacher from him. Just a little "Hi I'm glad to be in your class" kinda card! Although my hubby calls it my sucking up card...LOL..Well if it helps the kid out a little bit I don't see anything wrong with it! ;)"

I used the pencil from the "Fall Characters" Set (which is beyond cute if you haven't seen it!) I paired it with some DCWV paper from either the Grade School or Edumacation Stack. I can't remember which because I've used both a lot recently and they are mostly torn up and just all stacked together. The CS is from Stampin' Up! I used my cricut to cut out the sentiment shape and the sentiment itself is a PBD Stamp (Not sure which set). Added some bling and of course my pencil is on an Action Wobble for a little bit of added fun!!

I hope you've enjoyed my card and it inspires you to create something for a teacher in your life! Don't forget to swing by Nikki's Store and check out all her cute new patterns!!

Action Wobbles Challenge - Make It For A Man

Hi Fans of Action Wobbles!  Today I have a card made with a Make It For A Man challenge.  Sometimes we paper crafters are stuck for something appropriate for a masculine project.  Mama LoveBug dipped into her arsenal of SU supplies and fashioned a card for the Action Wobbles Manly Challenge.

I embossed a piece of SU card stock, used watercolor crayons on a stamped image, used a notebook punch on another piece of SU patterned paper, and added twine, brads, a compass stamped image, and an anchor punch to seal the deal.

Here's my manly card and a very fuzzy photo of the actual Action Wobble on the compass at the top:

I guess you'll have to use your imagination on how much fun these wobbles are - try one and you'll become addicted to the concept.

Paper Piecings by Nikki DT Offering - Thinking of You

Good Monday, Crafties.  Today is the day for a PPbN DT offering and Mama LoveBug decided to make a card for a "Thinking of You" moment.  Often times we crafters know someone who needs a little comfort and support; some times just learning that one is in the thoughts of another can be uplifting - a big positive boost.  So with that in mind, I designed such a card with a cute, big doggie from a PPbN collection called You Can Always Lean On Me!!

The PPbN online store can be found at http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

Here's my care/share card for today:

Tuesday, September 4, is Team A of PPbN's DT hop with the theme of Back to School.  Save the date for some examples of what wonderful things YOU can do with these unique, dynamic paper piecings!
