Father's Day Hop - Time to Salute the Dads in Your Life

Looking for the 100 Acre Woods Blog Hop - click HERE

Welcome to The Father’s Day Hop.  If you zipped over from Connie you are on the right course, but if you stumbled on this hop and want to start with our blog hostess, go to Miranda

Father’s Day for me is bittersweet as my dad (William George Pattison) passed away about a week from Father’s Day in 2006.  He was the very best of fathers and always remains in my heart as the Model Dad!!  He was charming and funny; he was the ultimate gentleman and hard worker.  He provided a wonderful life for my mother and me.  As a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps, he was a veteran of WWII and a proud member of the SAR, VFW, and American Legion.

After he retired as a tool-and-die maker for Chrysler, he enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, golf, bowling, and making jewelry, but his special passion was cheering on his football team, The Pittsburgh Steelers. His third-great-grandfather, Nathaniel Wilson Smith, was a jeweler of note in the Pittsburgh, PA-Columbus, OH-Wheeling, WVA areas, so I imagine that’s the impetus for jewelry designing and football preference.

Whenever I think of the colors I’d associate with my father, they would be yellow and brown – he favored that combo and usually wore some sort of yellow polo and brown slacks for casual wear.  With that in mind, I decided to try out a few new products (to me), to design a Father’s Day card in his memory.

Recipe
*Mr. Huey Mask - Chevron and Mr. Huey Sprays in yellow and brown - instead of stamping the triple layers, I sprayed using the chevron mask (1st time to do this)
*Triple-Stamped Card base with SU Yellow and Whisper White cardstock
*Tie Stamp and Sentiment from SU, stamped in brown and brown Stickles for tie
*Punched base on yellow using two different SU punches
*White and yellow twine
*Mama's Mesh from LoveBug Creations HERE under New Product
*A ton of love

Since I have a new tool in my crafty arsenal, a Cameo, I had to give it a whirl on several tie cards for my husband - I made two but can't decide which I like best.........these were shirt and tie cuts from the Silhouette Cameo Store plus DCWV double-sided paper and a bit of Stickling thrown in for a subtle glimmer; sentiment was from my stamp stash:

Nice job on the Father's Day cards. It's cool that you used the sport team's colors on the card you made in memory of your dad. Makes it so meaningful. The tie cards are cute and I like the colors you chose.

Great cards and just like you I am not sure which I like more! I also like the color palette that you have chosen. It is not the usual combination for Father's Day. Great Job!
