Paper Hoarders DT Offering - Move, Shake, Action

Good Morning, Crafties!  Time to move, shake, rattle and roll into action for a Paper Hoarders DT project.  Our crafting PH guru, Tanya, wanted the DT to design something that has movement for our project. Tanya has pictures of all the DT participants on her blog at http://scrappinkymomma.blogspot.com/

Mama LoveBug really wanted to showcase an "action brooch" ready for some Halloween shake-ups so I designed a flower pin/brooch using some ghost paper from my stash, my SU punch, a colorful center, and some love plus I added some googly-eyed spiders who definitely qualify for a bit of action.  I wonder when I pin this to my lunch bag, if someone will actually think they're real spiders and try to ward them off  -  we'll see (hee-hee).  Here's my action brooch but the camera won't really give you the full effect so you'll have to use your imagination on this!

Hey everyone! Love those spiders on Mama's Brooch! Too spooky cute :)
For my (Kimi) project I decided to make a halloween shaker box card! I wish I could give you a better view of this so you could see how fun it is but again you'll have to imagine! I think mine hits the shake, rattle, and roll elements! :)
I used some DCWV paper from their 2011 Halloween Collection, spider web cut from cricut, spiders I got last year at Joanns (favorite findings I believe..and same goes for orange and black beads!) The "EEK" was a stamp! I mades the crinkle ribbon I used (which matches the orangy color in the paper nicely I think!) and the brad I couldn't tell ya...again a last year brad I found in my stash! :)

I hope you've enjoyed our projects and they inspire you to make something that shakes, rattles, and rolls!! :)

Bug Hugs,
Kimi

1st Day of School~ PPbN DT Offering

Good Afternoon everyone!! As some of you may know my 2nd child (and only boy!) started school this week! Talk about nervous! He is in Kindergarten Readiness...Which if you aren't familiar with it, it's basically Kindergarten but all day 3 days a week instead of 5! Let me say this...Since he was born I haven't worked outside of the home. He's pretty much been right with me everyday for 5 years! It was super hard to watch him get on the bus Tuesday morning but I think I handled it pretty well!
I was so excited for him to start because I had a FABULOUS idea (which I originally saw on Pinterest) for a 1st day of school sign! I couldn't wait to start! I went to Michael's for all my supplies and just knew that the "Back to School Cutting File Set" from Paper Piecings by Nikki would be perfect! Her new fall patterns are all super cute so if you haven't checked them out yet you really should!!!
For the base of the frame I hit up the framing dept. and got a cardboard matting! Next I needed something to cover it with...What better then the "Grade School" and "Edumacation" stacks! Just perfect!! So I cut the background papers out and Mod Podge'd em on! Next I fussy cut all the cute PPbN Back to School Bears and figured out where to put them! The letters I made with the Alphalicious Cricut Cartridge and some primary colored paper! Next I cut some little banner pieces and the little book stack out of the paper collection! Then I took the apple from the PPbN set and fussy cut it. Ran it through my printer to add all the details about his 1st day! I popped everything up on dimensionals to give it a little added oomph! ;)  I hope you enjoy all the photos! Obviously the first 2 are my favorites! :)

I hope you enjoyed seeing my frame and my sweet little guy on his first day!!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Paper Piecings by Nikki DT Offering - Get Your Boo ON

Good Monday, Crafties.  Is it too early to be thinking of Halloween? I don't think so!!  So get your witchy mojo around - it's time to play with some amazing Halloween piecings by PPbN from Nikk's collection called Beary Scary Halloween located at http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

Today Mama LoveBug is sharing a card using the Witch Bear (one of many in this jumbo-sized collection).  I like the fact that these darlings are not too scary but unique!  So often little folks are "put off by" some images that cause them anxious moments - we don't want that, now do we??

So here's the witch who's joined by a few other gold-embossed embellies to say - Happy Halloween!

Hope this inspires you to take a peek at this and other PPbN collections to put in your own arsenal of crafting treasures!  Remember, no matter how you piece your paper, have fun with it.........cyberhugs........Mama LoveBug!

My First Action Wobble for Challenge

Mama LoveBug jumped into the 21st Century of Paper Crafting today - yes I have become a major fan of Action Wobbles.  I saw someone post (long ago) about the fun she had making "action" figures and I sat on the sidelines for a long time admiring the idea but never tried the action idea until now!!

What was I thinking?  This idea is VERY fun and entertaining along with being so darling!  Well, anyway, I used a sweet Simply Betty digi I recently purchased to see if I'd like the idea and if I could make something that worked with the whole action wobble concept.  I also tried a new style of card (new for me) - an easel card!

Turns out I like that too......woot, woot!!  Keep in mind that I am the queen of SU dimensionals - I like how an image can be raised on the card for added interest but these Wobbles not only give that "lift" but also a whimsical element my cards until now did not have!! So here's my attempt at movement!

Like the SU sentiment says - Grab your broom, cast your spell, and shake your Booty!  Of course, the pumpkin gal has a few spidery pals to keep her company while she shakes her booty.........LOL!

http://challenges.action-wobbles.com/ is the place to find more ideas on how to incorporate the wobbles into your crafting and have some fun with the challenges provided.

Thanks for stopping by today and remember - no matter how you piece your paper, have fun with it.........cyberhugs........Mama LoveBug

Happy Fall Y'all~ PPbN DT Offering

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you a card I made for fall! I know its still summer and this may seem a bit early but when Paper Piecings by Nikki released her "Beary Scary Halloween Set" I couldn't wait to use it! So I took the pumpkin bear and instead of making him a jack-o-lantern I left him plain! I used some paper from a pack I've had since last year and I can't remember the name at the moment..LOL...I cut the leaves using a McGill punch and then ran them through my crimper! I computer generated the sentiment and used the same color papers as the leaves to put that together. Next I added a basket that I received last year from a Cricut Cut Swap I was in. I know its from a cart but to be honest I couldn't tell you which one! LOL...I'm just full of information today, huh? Well here's my card...

Hope you enjoy my little fall card!!! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Paper Piecings by Nikki DT Offering - New Baby

Good Monday, Crafties.

Well it's time to post another lovely pattern piecing by PPbN so Mama LoveBug decided to use a giraffe from a PPbN collection (Through Thick and Thin) in place of a traditional stork for a New Baby card.  Nikki's online store is located at http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

Here's the offering for today:

I used a darling digi from http://sliekje.blogspot.com/ called Blowing Bubbles for the base of the card.  Then I printed, fussy cut, and gel-pen highlighted the giraffe from PPbN's pattern collection.  The baby carriage was a SU stamp that I stickled with pretty pink highlights. The bow maker was from 3 Girl Jam (love it!!!) and the paper was from my stash.  Rounding it off I added a few gems here and there.

So there you have a new baby card...........remember no matter how you piece your paper, have fun with it...........cyberhugs........Mama LoveBug.

The little girl banner is part of a K&Co set I've had forever...The paper is from the Recollections Butterfly Wings Solid Cardstock pack and the pattern is from DCWV's Nana's Nursery Baby Girl Stack! Not sure what stamp set I used (isn't that awful!) but I added some pink bling in the corners!!! I hope you enjoy this card and I know my friend will!!! :)

Paper Piecings by Nikki - DT Offering - The Spirit of Caring

Good Monday, Crafties!  Today I'd like to talk a bit about the power of our hobby - sending one smile at a time with each card we make.  How can we be of help to a 4 year old who has cancer?  LoveBug Creations' friend and fellow crafter, Tanya Stilwell, brought Nathan Butler to our attention.  Here's a little info on Nathan:

Nathan’s Caring Bridge Page http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/nathanbutler

"Hi! I'm Nathan and I'm 4 years old. I have stage IV Neuroblastoma.
Up until just a few weeks ago, my biggest trouble was my baby brother, Lukas. He is always in the middle of whatever it is I'm trying to do! Now, I have a much bigger fight on my hands. Cancer. It is scary, but I am a brave, strong boy and this will not define me! I have so many other fun things to think about! I love dinosaurs, trains, and hot wheels. Oh, and SUPER HEROS! My mom says this is fitting because she believes I am her super hero. This sounds about right because I know my daddy is a super hero and I hear a lot that I'm just like him! My journey to remission is just beginning so check back often and please continue to pray for me! "

Breaks my heart to think of all that Nathan and his family are experiencing, so as this is my official day to post a DT project for PPbN I decided to share a card I've made for Nathan.  I used the Cat in the Hat pattern collection at PPbN.  Check out her lovely, unique patterns at http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

If you want to send a card to shower this little boy with friendship, please use this address:
Nathan Butler
c/o Tanya Stilwell, PO Box 143, Cecilia, KY 42724 (Let's flood Tanya's mailbox!!!)

Also, in the spirit of caring, two of PPbN's DT members, sisters Mandy and Mindy, are assisting their sister, Amanda Lease, with funeral costs incurred upon the sudden death of Amanda's fiancee, with whom she has three children.  PPbN created a touching pattern collection called Sisters Are Forever and the donations for this will go to help Amanda and her children. For more on this, go to http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/item_216/Sisters-Are-Forever-Cutting-File-and-Donation-Set.htm

So the bottom line on all of this is - you can make a small difference in the lives of others through your crafting!  I urge you to make that difference............cyberhugs..........Mama LoveBug

Paper Hoarders DT Offering - A Lazy Day

Welcome to the Paper Hoarders DT offering today!  What can you accomplish in an hour?  Ever timed your projects to see how long it takes from conception to completion?  That's the idea of today's project as directed to the DT from our PH guru Tanya who has all the projects on her blog at http://scrappinkymomma.blogspot.com/

No Monkeying around now - it's time to banana up!  (couldn't resist a bit of humor here)!!
Mama LoveBug is up first today on the "clock" - one hour - what can I do?  I decided to make a cover for a blank perpetual calendar that I had.  My idea is to make a monkey calendar as I want to use some banana paper in my stash.  I measured and cut the desired base of banana paper and adhered it to the calendar's front.

Next I fussy cut 5 different monkeys from three different paper piecing collections I had already printed out.  These cuties are available at Paper Piecings by Nikki's online store http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/ - they are from the following collections:
Top Monkey - You Are So Loved
Center Grouping - See, Speak, Hear No Evil Monkey Set
Bottom Monkey - So Junglicious

After the fussy cutting I used gel pens to give definition and highlighting to each image.
Next I stamped a banana and sentiments (Sweet Thing and You Make Me Smile) I had and gold-embossed/fussy cut the lot.  The final part was arranging the items on the cover and taking a picture of the project.  Here's my finished project!!

Awwww....Wasn't Mama's Project too cute??? And all in an hour! WOWZAA! As for me (Kimi) I decided to make an explosion box!!! I wanted to make a baby one and had just the perfect pattern from Paper Piecings by Nikki to use! I took the hippo from her "Critter Babies" set! He's so cute!!! Take a look! :)
I also used some embellishments from a baby set I had!

I used some cute DCWV paper for the outside as well as a baby stamp set from "Crafty Sprouts"

Here's the box on it's side so you could see it all!

Since we only had an hour I didn't get the inside completed but once I do I'll post some pictures of that as well!!!

So next time you craft set your timer...see what you can do with an hour!!!

Bug hugs,
Kimi

Paper Piecings by Nikki DT Offering - Perpetual Calendar and Anniversary Safari

Good Monday, Crafties.  Today Mama LoveBug is sharing two projects - the first is an anniversary card I made using the new PPbN Untamed Love pattern collection.  So many great ways to use this collection!  I do not have a machine to easily cut out the pieces so I have to fussy cut the image.  Then I add gel pens and Stickles to add dimension to the image plus SU Dimensionals.  I had a set of rub-on mustaches to pick through as I thought the male safari bear needed to look "mature" for this card.  The paper I chose had a "wild animal" appeal as well to fit in with the theme of this design.

Here's the Jungle Love pocket card.  Notice that I gold-embossed "Together Forever", a sentiment from Pink By Design and did the same with a few "friends" of the jungle, the parrot and the tiger.  The paper for the base was also part of another collection from PPbN - can you guess what that is?

After I made the card I decided to use some of the characters from a "jungle love" stamps set by Inkadinkado and the safari bear to use for the cover of a perpetual calendar.  You can see there are some new critters there to keep the bear company.  The sentiment is You Color My World (also Pink By Design) as the parrot is the only jungle friend with color.

I hope you have a great day and spread a bit of sunshine with your crafting.  Everyone has a different style or "take" on using the patterns - remember, no matter how you piece your paper, have fun with it...........cyberhugs........Mama LoveBug

B-Day Card for Taylor

Hi Crafties.

It's almost time for my grand-daughter, Taylor, to celebrate her birthday so I fashioned a pocket card for her special day next week.  I wanted to be sure to post this first to share and be a guinea pig on the Reward Challenge over at Paper Craft Island - I'm not a contestant, just a test case.

I used a super birthday girl digi image from Simply Betty and made her come alive (so to speak) with colored pencils, gel pens, and lots of love. This little gal sitting on presents, wearing a tutu, and having a dynamite smile reminded me of her.  The paper was from my paper stash (oh so pretty with soft pinks and blues and other vibrant, popping colors).  I gold embossed the sentiment and the present plus added a few Stickles.  Then I die cut a birthday bow from Sizzix and added some pearls. I hope she likes it............

Happy Birthday, Taylor..........10 spankings coming your way.........love ya from Mama LoveBug (er......Grandma LoveBug)...........cyberhugs to you all...........remember no matter how you piece your paper, have fun with it.
