Colour Q Challenge #90

http://colourq.blogspot.com/2011/06/colourq-challenge-90.html

Mama LoveBug used the color requirements for this challenge and added an image from Loralie Designs Art Stamps plus a nifty sentiment for a mature lady's birthday card.  I also used a clear glitter pen, a Sizzix Topnote Die, a SU embossing folder, a glitter brad, and some twine for an offset set of circles as the base for the sentiment.  Here's the result:

I had a lot of fun doing the coloring for this card.  Thanks for stopping by........cyber hugs from Mama LoveBug.

Shirt & Tie Card

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've done any posts and thought I'd share the card I made for Papa Lovebug for Father's Day! I'm sure some of you have seen these kind of cards before but I had never done one! Seemed fitting for the holiday! :)
One thing I will point out is that double sided paper is a must and I don't have a whole lot of manly double sided paper....So couple that with my first attempt and you get this. Not the best...but not the worst..and he liked it so thats all that really matters anyway! ;)

If  any of you would like to try one of these here is the tutorial I used: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YcRKO99zHo

Good luck and have fun! :)

Paper Play #23 Challenge

Paper Play Challenge #23 – Father’s Day or Man Card

Mama LoveBug decided to work on a Manly Card, which is actually going to be for Papa LoveBug’s birthday next month.  He is still in the working world (respiratory therapist) but the other day he talked about his dreams for retirement.  He said he’d like to get a boat and go fishing.  When our two grandsons get a bit older, he’d like to take them too.  So with that idea in mind I came up with this Fishing You a Happy Birthday.

I found a challenge that fits this card so I’m off to the fishing hole with this card.

Recipe:
*Cardstock in the Manly Blue for base card, embossed second layer, SU topnote for third layer
*Loralie Designs Art Stamp  - man complete with fishing pole and fish
*Of course, what’s a fisherman without a hat
*Watercolors and glitter pens
*Sentiment – Fishing you a Happy Birthday (Pink By Design)
*Frame to showcase the card for his “manly den”

Here’s some info on this challenge blog located at http://paperplaychallenges.blogspot.com/

“Each week we hope to have a new challenge for you to enjoy. The criteria will be set each Thursday and you can post a link to your blog showing your entry using the linking facility at the end of the post.

The challenges close at 9pm GMT on the Wednesday of the following week. Only new projects, not previously posted on your blog or posted prior to the current challenge, can be entered.”

Teacher Appreciation Blog Hop – Final Day

This hop has been lots of fun and LoveBug Creations wants to thank our blog visitors for their participation. What a neat project from Kimi LoveBug!  She certainly received some lovely compliments on her apple project (see Day 2 if you missed it).

Well to begin our last day, Mama LoveBug wants to share several projects with you.

This first set is my wearable art (made from paper) in the form of Teacher Brooches.  They would be a lovely gift for the teacher to proudly wear on a blouse, shirt, suit jacket, pinned to a purse, or set on a desk for display. The possibilities are endless! These are available on the LoveBug Creations FB page located at
www.facebook.com/LovebugCreations (try clicking on our FB icon over on the left if this link doesn't work for you)

The second project is appreciation cards for the teacher – one I made for my granddaughter’s first grade teacher and the other is also on our FB page.  Both were made with love and respect for those who deal with “precious cargo”, our children and grandchildren.

Love those Greeting Farm Stamps!! and Pink By Design Sentiments!!

Gosh, I truly heart Loralie Designs Art Stamps!! and the Twinkle Toes Cricut Cart!!

Since it’s the last day of presenting, commenting, etc for this blog hop, Mama LoveBug wanted to share a memory with you about teaching.  Some students were bad, some were good, some have established bright futures, and some have not.  That’s the way it is.  We all take a different journey in life.  The path I want to mention here involves a former student who established a dream of being a published writer; she never wavered from that goal, and today she has attained her “eye on the prize” in a big way.  My student is known in the world of mystery fiction as Ann Charles.  I asked her to participate in this hop as a guest and she instantly agreed to donate a special prize – her first book in the Deadwood series – Nearly Departed in Deadwood.  So if you are a mystery lover, go to our FB page and leave a comment for a chance at this giveaway - winner announced on June 13.
www.facebook.com/LovebugCreations (try clicking on our FB icon over on the left if this link doesn't work for you)

Now without future ado..here’s that maven of mayhem……….Ann Charles.

“Where would we be without teachers to instruct, guide, and help us succeed in life? I have so many wonderful memories of my teachers over the years, which brings me to a certain teacher who taught me English, History, how to put together a yearbook, and much more—Mrs. (Pam) Lash. In a small school system like my hometown’s, teachers take on many roles. And on top of providing instruction on various subjects, they become motivators and listeners, friends and role models. Mrs. Lash was more than just a teacher, and the fact that we still stay in touch now shows the lasting role teachers can play in our lives long past graduation day. I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to share a little bit about how wonderful my teachers have been to me—and still are. Thank you, Pam, for asking me to play a small role in this blog tour. And thanks to all of you hard-working teachers out there who make a huge difference in our lives. You should be paid as much as lawyers and treated as well as doctors.”

Ann Charles—Author
Nearly Departed in Deadwood, a Daphne du Maurier Award Winner
You'll laugh.  You'll cringe.  You'll want more.  Buy it!

Thank you to Ann Charles – (me blushing)!!

We hope you enjoyed day 1 of the hop! If you missed out here's the link to our first post! Did you see Mama Lovebug's Desk Plaque/Wall Hanging? Wasn't that adorable? Hard to believe she was a teacher herself for 38 years! What an accomplishment!!! We love you, Mama! :)

Kimi got to make today's project and thought an apple notepad for the teachers desk would be a great gift! This apple notepad is able to stand on its own or can be laid down! Each sheet tears off and one side is lined and the other is blank! Kimi made this using the Imagine More Cards cart, Preserves Cart, Mod Podge and Tim Holtz Distress ink in worn lipstick! Enjoy! :)

Thank You to Our Teachers Blog Hop - Day 1

Thank You to Our Teachers Blog Hop - Day 1
Welcome to the Thank You to Our Teachers Blog Hop, which will be happening from June 5-11.  LoveBug Creations is honored to join in this great way to show our appreciation to the profession of teaching.

Mama LoveBug won the coin toss and will begin with her project. I hold teaching in the highest regard since I was a teacher in the same school system for 38 years.  I retired a year ago and cherished teaching high school English and social studies; however, I fear that many teachers feel overlooked and under-appreciated today, so it's with a great sense of pride that I feel fortunate to be a part of this hop that sends a shout out to teachers anywhere for their dedication to the profession.

My project is a teacher appreciation desk plaque, which can be hung on the wall or placed on the teacher's desk.  I hope it gives our blog hop guests a source of inspiration - bricks and mortar do not a teacher make; pride in planting seeds of knowledge is how the garden grows best.

Recipe for the Teacher Appreciation Frame
*Use A7 card as base
*American Craft cardstock in white, dark pink, deep blue, and black
*SU embossing folder - Lattice
*SU die cut - Top Note
*Spellbinders scalloped oval and fancy rectangle
*Gel Pen, Corner Chomper, Divine Twine, Pink glitter brad
*Greeting Farm Stamp
*Pink By Design Sentiment
*2"circle punch for white and black cardstock, offset using brad and twine
*Frame
*Lots of Love and Respect for Teachers
