Glamorous Side of Scrapping Birthday Blog Hop
Welcome to the Glamorous Side of Scrapping Birthday Blog Hop. If you hopped over from Jamie you're on the correct path, but if you stumbled upon this posting and want to join in the fun, start with our blog hostess Ashley - she has some prizes for hoppers so make sure you follow her instructions!
Happy Birthday to you, Ashley!! Before I show you my paper piecing project I want to relay something about our blog hostess - Ashley introduced me to the joy of making triple-stamped cards and on one of her blog postings, she said she adored mermaids; with that in mind I created a mermaid card in honor of her using a Toodle Mermaid digi. I'm entering her in the All That Stickles Challenge
I cut K and Co shell paper for the base layer of the card plus the technique of the triple stamp mats and SU products for stamped layering pieces. The fun began when I used my colored pens, gel-pen, and Stickles for the fishy gal; I think her scales really stand out with the Stickles. She was fussy cut after the coloring process. The sentiment was from my stamp stash and I finished off the card with LoveBug Creations Rumple Ribbon.
Now on with my project - we were asked to create something with a paper piecing technique so I took a Paper Piecings by Nikki pattern - Kitty in the Hat and printed her out three times to make a double-sided stand up card. The first two printings (one was a reverse) were for the actual card and the third (I printed in sepia) was to cut out elements of the pattern so I could take some coordinating paper for my theme, lay down and trace these elements, fussy cut them, and adhere these to my pattern.
This is the finished card - after cutting the kitty and piecing the new elements to it, I dolled up kitty with some bling and LoveBug Creations Rumple Ribbon; this double bow was made with Sparky Diamonds and Black Corset from the Red Hot Lover collection. I also used a gel pen to highlight kitty's features.

My sepia pattern and tracing.
